Invasive Species
PURPOSE OF THE LLST:
To focus atternion on 1) the adverse
effects exotic pest pleats ctm+ently have
on Florida's native biodiversity and the
functioning of native plant commtmities,
2) the habitat losses from exotic pest plant
infestations, 3) the impacts on endangered
species via habitat loss and alteration, 4)
the IIeed t0 prevent habitat losses through
pest-plant management, 5) the socio-
economic impacts of these plants (e.g.,
increased wildfires in Me]aleuca areas), 6)
Changes in the Seriousness of different
pest plants over time, and 'n the need to
provide information that helps natural
area managers set priorities for control
programs.
