WINTER SPRINGS CITY COMMISSION
HONORABLE MAYOR JOHN BUSH
Cc: COMMISSIONERS
CITY MANAGER
Subject: Re: Code Enforcement-Commercial Vehicles:
Code # 20-431 (a & b): Authorized Commercial Vehicles in residential areas.
Code # 20-432 Definition of Commercial Vehicles.
Commercial vehicles of any type upon which a business name or sign is permanently or
temporarily affixed.
Some of the owners have put tarp on their vehicles to cover up the lettering and racks
holding ladders. This looked very tacky in a residential neighborhood. Then that was
prohibited. Next came the magnetic signs to cover the lettering. That seemed fair, BUT
where is this written in the code? We, the Code Enforcement Board have to go by the code
of the city of Winter Springs.
If a person cannot park his vehicle in his garage or back yard where it cannot be seen from
the street, what is he to do? Nine times ont of ten this is how he makes his living. If we go
by the code the way it is written at this time we are to tell the violator find some other place
to park it or move!! Is this the way to treat our residents? No and we have not been doing
that. We have been letting them have the racks on top of their vehicles as long as they
remove the ladders and put magnetic signs over the lettering. Is this acceptable?
According to the code it isn't.
Please add to the code or go back to term parking permits.
Thank you for your speedy consideration in this matter.
Sincerely,
.~~tue e..~~ye~c
