Mgr. / Dept.
Authorization
REQUEST:
Seminole County Economic Development Department request to provide
the Commission with information regarding Florida's Brownfields
Redevelopment Program and how it could affect Winter Springs.
PURPOSE:
This agenda item is needed to provide John Metsopoulos, Seminole
County's Program Manager for the US 17-92 C.RA., an appointment to
inform the Commission of the potential impacts of Florida's Brownfields
Redevelopment Program on the US 17-92 corridor.
CONSIDERATIONS:
Winter Springs entered into an interlocal agreement with Seminole County
and other Seminole County cities bordering the 17-92 corridor in 1998 to
create the 17-92 Community Redevelopment Authority C.RA. The
C.RA. is a tax increment district. In FY08 Winter Springs will return
estimated $175,000 in tax revenues to the district that could have
otherwise been utilized for other purposes in the City.
