Dear Mr. Anders:
This office has received complaints of interference to home electronic equipment from your citizen band radio
station. The information indicates the possibility that you may have a radio frequency amplifier capable of
amplifying the power of your station when turned on.
This is to advise you that if continued complaints are received it will necessitate this office referring this case to
enforcement for an unannounced on-site investigation. Penalties for violations of FCC Rules and Regulations include
fines of up to $5,000 per day for each day the violation occurs up to $75,000. You are hereby cautioned against the
use of any radio frequency power amplifier (linear) at your station or operating with power in excess of four watts.
In the event your station is inspected, you should take the following steps to ensure you are in compliance with FCC
Rules:
1. Have your transmitter checked by a competent service representative to be sure it complies
with technical rules such as power, modulation, harmonic and spurious emissions, etc.
2. Discontinue using any illegal equipment, such as linear amplifiers, non-type accepted or
modified transmitters.
3. Make sure the chassis of the equipment is properly secured to the metal case by tightening the
screws holding the chassis and case together.
Some additional suggestions are listed below:
1. If a beam antenna is used, rotate the antenna in another direction, preferably away from other
nearby residences.
2. Determine where you antenna is in respect to your neighbors TV antennas. One should be
higher than the other, and they should be separated horizontally as far as possible. Otherwise,
the TV antenna will pickup your signal.
It is also suggested that you contact Ms. J.C. Cook, at the City of Winter Springs to help resolve this matter.
Your cooperation in this matter is appreciated.
Sincerely,
Katherine Ferfoglia
