REQUEST:
Community Development Department, Urban Beautification Services Division, is requesting
authorization for a supplemental appropriation in the amount of $2,000 for installation of the
Chief Timothy J Lallathin Memorial at Central Winds Park.
PURPOSE:
The purpose of this Agenda Item is to obtain Commission approval for a supplemental
appropriation from the General Fund in the amount of $2,000 for installation of a memorial in
memory of Fire Chief Timothy J. Lallathin.
CONSIDERATIONS:
On June 11, 2007 at a regular meeting, the City Commission approved having a memorial
plaque and plantings installed at Central Winds Park and dedicated to Fire Chief Timothy J.
Lallathin. Staffhas planned the memorial area which includes the following:

. Small garden planted with a Cathedral oak tree surrounded
by shrubs and perennial plantings
. Bench for the public to sit and enjoy the memorial area
Staff has consulted with Chief Lallathin's family and has obtained their endorsement in
regard to the monument plaque wording and photo logo.
FUNDING:
Funding for the Chief Timothy J. Lallathin Memorial at Central Winds Park shall be
provided from the General Fund in the amount of $2,000.
ST AFF RECOMMENDATION:
Staff recommends the City Commission approve a supplemental appropriation from the
General Fund for the Chief Timothy J. Lallathin Memorial Planting at Central Winds Park in the
amount of $2,000.
IMPLEMENTATION SCHEDULE:
The project will begin immediately with Staff ordering the memorial plaque monument and
plantings; with completion in approximately 45 days. The Memorial Dedication Ceremony could be
scheduled by the City Commission to occur after September 15, 2007.
COMMISSION ACTION:
