YTD budget report - 309 Oak Forest Capital p. 6 B. Reports and Information 1. REW Custom Landscape is performing to standard in all areas. The City is very pleased with their progress on Tuscawilla Road and the Oak Forest Wall. 2. Lightscapes Outdoor Lighting is performing to standard. 3. Annuals and soil amendments were installed at all O.F. entrances the week of 2/12/08. C. Projects 1. Oak Forest Wall Extension. Bids were taken to construct the wall extension and B&G Concrete provided the most competitive bid of $14,775 for wall construction. The contract with B&G Concrete has been executed and the project is currently under construction with completion expected by 2/25/08. Immediately thereafter, the site will be cleaned up and the temporary fencing removed at an estimated cost of $1,000. Some work will also be done to connect existing wood fencing to the wall bordering the Mahoney's lot. Landscaping and irrigation will also be installed along the front of the wall to match existing landscapes. 2. Trash Receptacles. Staff feels that it would be prudent to order the trash receptacles for location along the wall at any time. The entrances have potato vine (perennial) installed that is typically affected by cold weather, but look great most of the year. We have had a couple of recent freezes and the potato vine is stunted and would grow back in the next couple of months if left in place, however, new plants were scheduled to be installed this week. In the Advisory Board's plans, sod along the wall was never upgraded nor irrigated due to the cost and available funds in the Capital Fund for the wall project. The upgrade could be handled by a future capital assessment to the District but would likely cost in the neighborhood of $20-30k for just sod and irrigation (not including noticing costs and consultant fees). I cannot speak to the City being able to handle the Assessment District without GSG and there being a cost savings. I do know that we already share the cost of maintenance and the contractor for OFWBD with the Tuskawilla Road rights-of--ways and medians funding. What is being done about them? One can glance at Tuscawilla's entrance and see how nice and groomed it looks. Then take a look at Oak Forest and the entrances look bad, the grass along the walls looks bad as well. I realize that there may be more money in the pot for Tuscawilla's entrances, but still no excuse. I am also aware that Ron said eventually we would be able to handle the district ourselves rather than GSG. Perhaps we can use the money we spend with them for our entrances.
