I personally found it very helpful in understanding the public's sentiments. Hopefully, you agree. Secondly, I have attached a COpy of the survey results. Staff will be holding an Inter-Agency Scoping Meeting with affected agencies and governmental entities at 10AM on Wednesday, March 21, 2007 to receive comment and discuss any concerns regarding the issues that the City has identified. Staff will then prepare our Letter of Understanding to transmit to the State. The LPA has requested a ioint meetinQ be held with the Commission to review and refine this document prior to its transmittal. Staff asks that the Commission determine a date in mid-April to hold this ioint meetinQ. What distinguishes Winter Springs as a"great city" and should continue to be important directions in the future? • Emphasis on parks and greenspace • Quality of schools, recreational facilities, Town Center • Beautiful mature trees, would like to see a retirement community. • Bedroom community, hometown feel • Parks&Recreation, Police, Fire, Events, schools,trails,green space. • Quiet, green, peaceful, safe. • Bedroom community,for families. • Landscaping, parks, safe community, schools. • Code enforcement rules need to be updated&selective enforcement must stop,apply codes uniformly • Parks,municipal services, location to airport&hospitals. • Rural suburban tone. • Neighborhoods, police&fire protection, sports, parks. • Well run, good services, well-planned development • Great services(firefighter, police), great schools, reasonable taxes,great parks, great community events. • Greenspace, parks, schools. • Cleanliness, low crime rate,good emergency response, quality of utilities,quality schools, quality park system. 7. What other concerns do you have about the future of Winter Springs? • Keeping the tax base low. • Too much traffic on 434. We need to stop changing the zoning to accommodate more density housing. • Urgent care facility central location in City(Town Center). • Sustainability. • Growth,traffic and crime. • Establishing a tax base that allows us to retain our quality of life. • We need to attract medical facilities-private practice and emergency care. • Hotel and retail shops needed; good restaurant @ lake front - Lake Jesup not perceived as family recreational but is certainly a valuable aesthetic asset. • High density housing. • Protecting established neighborhoods and only looking at new development. The established neighborhoods have made Winter Springs what it is today. • Would like to have(maintain)our greenspace. • Plans need to be concerned with keeping native and passive park space. • Too much population due to too much building multifamily. Need for library. Need for motel at Greeneway interchange. Underground utilities on 434 and Tuscawilla. • Need building for performing arts. High school too costly. Hotel &conference facilities. 14.
