REQUEST: The Public Works Department requests that the City Commission listen to a
presentation from Carter-Burgess regarding the status of the US 17/92
roadway widening project from Shepard Road to Lake Mary Boulevard
PURPOSE: '[he purpose of this Agenda Item is to request that the City Commission listen to a
presentation from Carter-Burgess regarding the status of the US 17/92 roadway
widening project from Shepard Road to Lake Mary Boulevard
CONSIDERATIONS:
The Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) is conducting a Project Development and
Environment (PD&E) Study for SR 15/600 (US 17/92) from Shepard Road to Lake Mary
Boulevard. FDOT is proposing to widen US 17/92 from four to six lanes along this corridor.
Please refer to the attached project summary sheets for more information.
Carter-Burgess is FDOT's engineering consultant for the project. The presentation will be given
by Ms. Lynne Marie Whatley, Consultant Project Manager - PD&E, and Mr. Eric Wooley,
Consultant Project Manager - Design.

Both the Metropolitan Planning Organization (METROPLAN ORLANDO) for the region and Seminole County have indicated this project is necessary in order to manage the current and projected growth of eastern Seminole County.

ACCESS MANAGEMENT
Based on discussions with Seminole County and the FDOT, the need to eliminate or revise median
openings throughout the corridor is an important issue for this project. This table illustrates the
proposed changes.
