REQUEST: Information Services wishes to inform Commission of the Automated
Electronic Defibrillator (AED) project completion.
PURPOSE: To inform Commission of the Automated Electronic Defibrillator
project.
CONSIDERATIONS:
The Information Services (I.S.) Department recently completed the installation,
configuration and testing of the AED cabinets located across the City. This project was
initiated by the Fire Department and because of the Fire consolidation, the project was
picked up by the I.S. Department for completion. The AED devices and associated
equipment were obtained with a grant from the Joseph G. Markoly Foundation. Each
cabinet contains the following items:
(1) AED Device
(1) Dialer
(1) Telephone connection
(1) Electrical outlet
(1) Set of instructions on how to turn the alarm off
(1) Key to turn alarm off

There are a total of five (5) AEDs throughout the City. They are located at the following
facilities:
City Hall
1126 E. SR 434
Parks and Recreation Administration Building
1000 E. SR 434
New Public Works Facility, Building Three
150 Hartman Lane
Police Department
300 N. Moss Road
Senior Center
400 N. Edgemon Avenue
The cabinets are connected to power and telephone and when activated will sound an
audible alarm and dial 911. Each dialer has apre-recorded message stating a medical
emergency has occurred, the physical address, and the location within the building of the
AED cabinet.
