Stephen,
We all know that coleus gets a little ragged near the end of its planned fuse after surviving the intense summer
environment and this is one of the disadvantages of using this plant material but it is just about the only plant
that will perform well during this trying period.
We have not detailed the annual beds during the last couple of services as we knew that the re-pfanting was
scheduled for this week. Pink begonias (as you requested) have been purchased, delivered and will be
4nstalled this week as per our annual planting schedule.
I will put together a proposal for replacing the annuals at Fox Glen with Ve,permanent jasmine plantings as
soon as I can get the necessary plant counts
Thanks,
Thom

The following message is from Denise Ritchey
Carol, if you could pass this on to the board, fit waxing twice a year is not necessary. Wherever
"the paint is used, it can be treated with a UV protectant and the sealer, if the right kind, does not
need waxing and will hold tip for several years before touch ,r«ip is necessary. Pcrhaps this would
Dien be a cost savings.

Sign RefOrbishment Update
"Pursuant to our discussion at the August 2008 TLBD Advisory Board Nfeeting, i wanted to
communicate the following:
Cockerili has finished the Deer Ruo signage and the Qyson entrance signs will be refurbished by the
1st week in October 2008 and paid from the FY 09 Budget
His sign counts were found to be correct in the field so the quote in yoWpacket from Cockefili is
also correct
,,In the mean time, we are preparing a bid package to tie released fog public bid in early October
2008, for the remained of this project which will include signs at the following locations:
Tuskamila Road and Winter Springs Blvd_
Winter Springs Blvd !near Seneca
Howell Creek
v °Trotwood
Tuscora
• Vistawiila
The bid specifications will be made to match the specifications discussed` atrneeting including
all aluminum lettering, DuPont Ernron paint; lacquer sealant,
grease filled screw hoies etc. The only addition will be a separate item to wax all of the refinished
signs (2x) per year We feel this will extend the overall life
of the paint by at least 2-3 vears. I am predicting the cost will fit within FY 09 Budget and can
be completed a ccuple of years ahead of schedule.
Please feel free to contact me with any question

Removin the contracted annual lantin sat Fox Gle
replacing with a permanent landscapes planting
emoving the existing annual plants at the tips of the medians
would save the yearly planting costs associated with these
plantings of $660:00 (150 plants X 4 yearly plantings X $1.10 per
plant installed).
Installing (1 galloM size) permanent plant Material would require,
34 plants (17 each side) at a cost of $5.00 per plant installed or a
one time charge of $,170.00.
because of previous issues, with tra f fic sight line, interferences of
similar planting locations throughout this site, we would
recommend that an extremely low growing plant be utilized in
these areas. Plant material suggestions that would fit here
include "Blue Pacific" shore juniper, society garlic, agapanthu,
vinca, coontie palm, oyster plant, minima jasmine or heather
plants and almost all could be installed at the price quoted above.
Our extensive landscape experience has shown that most of
these plants would perform well under the given conditions and
the f final choice selected should be the option of the site
manager,

Steven''
I have updated and resurrected the attached' proposal that r first sent to you in June of this year concerning; the
annual replacement with permanent landscape material at the Fox Glen site Please let me know if you have
any questions, comments and/or will approve this work
Since this situation has never been discussed before, could you please clarify your interpretation of the polices
,involved here concerning the annual plantings. Am I to assume that when annuals are damaged sucn as by an
auto accident, that they should be automatically replaced and that you are giving us permission to bill extra for
this work?
Some factors to consider here include that if the damage is done after any substantial time since the original
annuals were planted. the similar replacement plants {should they even be availabie'r will not be anywhere as
big as the existing plants and may look odd. If this was indeed the case and the damage was widespread in a
bed, would it not be better to replace the entire bed with simi?ar size plants? How close to the scheduled
replanting should we attempt to make these moves knowing that the beds are scheduled to be changed in the
near future, Can a ''patched up'' annual bed be tolerated for a period of time and if so, how long?
In the long run, 1 think that it would be much easier for you and I 'o communicate on each individual cccu rend
,(should they happen', make a joint decision on what to do and implement this actiol,
Please provide to me your ideas concerning this.

I understand. but there have been coat nUcus issues w1h weecing and r,raintenance of the annual
beds since your company started. This includes when vehicles run througi,, the annual beds and
nothing is cone to correct the issue unless I report a problem it was my expectation that if you

Cindy,
The irrigation at the Deer Run entrance need to be reduced. It should be running no more than 30 mins, 2 times
per week.
There is a lot of dollar weed in the turf, an indication of too much water.
Weeding needs to be done at the entrance signs at Winter Springs Blvd. and Seneca, in the jasmine beds.
Thanks.

Stephen,
We all know that coleus gets a little ragged near the end of its planned use after surviving the intense summer
environment and this is one of the disadvantages of using this plant material but it is just about the only plant
that will perform well during this trying period.
We have not detailed the annual beds during the last couple of services as we knew that the re-planting was
scheduled for this week. Pink begonias (as you requested) have been purchased, delivered and will be
installed this week as per our annual planting schedule.

Hi Steven,
Luis was at Winter Springs Blvd. this morning and checked out the area you called in Friday afternoon.
He turned off the water to that island. Since the valve boxes are still under water, he is waiting for the
water to drain out. He will be there Wednesday to complete the repair.
Also, we plan on starting the granular fertilization of the turf on Wednesday as well. I will be sending
you a report for the month of September either tomorrow or the 1 st. Thank you.
