REQUEST:
Mayor John F. Bush is asking the City Commission to review and consider
approving the attached Resolution 2008-43 related to Keep Seminole Beautiful
and feral cats.
PURPOSE:
Mayor Bush is asking the City Commission to consider approving Resolution
2008-43 which would endorse Keep Seminole Beautiful's support of "TNVR" of
feral cats.
CONSIDERATIONS:
The attached Resolution is being requested through the Seminole County's "Keep
Seminole Beautiful".
RECOMMENDATION:
The City Commission is being asked to review Resolution 2008-43 related to
Keep Seminole Beautiful and feral cats, and approve Resolution 2008-43.

A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY OF WINTER SPRINGS,
FLORIDA ENDORSES KEEP SEMINOLE BEAUTIFUL OF
SEMINOLE COUNTY'S SUPPORT OF "TRAP, NEUTER,
VACCINATE AND RETURN" (TNVR) OF FERAL CATS.
WHEREAS, Keep Seminole Beautiful is committed to enhancing and preserving the
environmental quality and natural beauty of Seminole County through the preservation of the
County's natural resources and enhancement of its built and natural lands; and
WHEREAS, Seminole County is expected to see a future growth in the county's
population, resulting in the increase of cats; and is currently seeing a mortgage crisis resulting in
the abandonment of homes and pets; and
WHEREAS, the abandoned and feral cats has been identified as an overpopulated
species and needs to be addressed in a humane and cost effective manner that will help preserve
the cat's wellbeing, the people's public health, the county's natural balance and beauty; and
WHEREAS, Friends of Feral Animals (FoFA) was created to spearhead the TNVR
effort; and
WHEREAS, FoFA is committed to providing resources for the management of cat
colonies throughout Seminole County, with consideration for wildlife sensitive areas, in order to
reduce the feral cat numbers through spay, neuter and adoption; and
WHEREAS, FoFA will work with Seminole County in educating the public on
responsible pet guardianship and the benefits ofTNVR.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY KEEP SEMINOLE BEAUTIFUL
OF SEMINOLE COUNTY FLORIDA THAT THE CITY OF WINTER SPRINGS,
FLORIDA ENDORSES AND SUPPORTS "TRAP, NEUTER, VACCINATE AND
RETURN" (TNVR) OF FERAL CATS IN SEMINOLE COUNTY.
