P & L landscaping is performing to standard on the landscape maintenance. 2. Lightscapes is performing to standard on the low voltage lighting. 3. Fountain Doctors is performing to standard on the fountain maintenance. 4. The south fountain refill valve was found stuck in the open position for about 1 day earlier this month. Staff has installed a limiter device for the refill valve in case this happens in the future, which will help to limit water waste. 5. Most of the cold sensitive plant material is coming back from the freezes of this past winter. Replacements have included Ixora and some Duranta in median areas. Surprisingly, there have been very minimal losses in plant material throughout the project due to freezes. 6. The Tuscawilla Homeowners Association has installed a new flagpole at median #23 on Winter Springs Blvd., with permission from the City Commission. 7. The Tuscawilla Homeowners Association is in the process of installing three benches in public areas including along Greenbriar Lane, at Bear Creek Nature Trail, and at a retention pond adjacent to Sam Smith Park. 8. The remaining TCC $12,500 landscape donation has been received by the City and is available for landscaping improvements to Tuscawilla. 9. Shrubbery is being trimmed back in the median at Winter Springs Blvd. and Gary Hillery Drive to alleviate a sight /distance issue. 10. Staff is in the process of performing an irrigation /water conservation audit to explore new ways to conserve water. Low volume irrigation nozzles have been installed on median #21 as a test to see how much water can be saved. Thus far we have been able to realize a 50% water usage reduction just by changing the irrigation nozzles on median #21. Changing sprinkler nozzles on all medians and the new irrigation controller on Winter Springs Blvd. should afford greater control and a generous reduction in water usage. C. Winter Springs Blvd. Plant Replacement Project 1. Several bed areas of plants have been 'filled in' on the Winter Springs Blvd. medians including at #18 & 19 where Ixora had perished. In the same area, tall thryallis have been replaced with low growing plant material to improve upon a sight /distance issue for oncoming traffic. Our plan is to continue filling in plant material in bare bed areas on the medians over the next few months. 2. Median #21 has been completely refurbished and plans for #22 and #23 are under review. We are focusing on sustainable, low water use plantings for these areas with all turf being removed as part of the projects. 3. Landscaping is being upgraded at both monuments on Winter Springs Blvd. at Seneca Blvd. Bids are being taken for the work at this time. D. TLBD Irrigation Retrofit Project 1. On March 31, 2010 a pre - construction meeting was held with LSP, City Staff and other project stakeholders to discuss technical issues related to the job. 2. The irrigation timer location has been moved from the parking area at Bear Creek Nature Trail to the lift station near the roadway bridge across from Tuscawilla Country Club, due to issues with installing new power service. 3. LSP Nursery has requested locates along Winter Springs Blvd. and the permit for working is on file at the City for issuance. It is expected that work will start in the next 15 days.
