Distinctive trees massed along the corridors encourage a sense of arrival especially when cou- pled with a series of colorful "trailblazer" signs identifying streets, city districts and desti- nation points. The project challenged the de- signers to create an adaptable signage system that would ser- vice both low-speed downtown streets and higher-speed subur- ban corridors as well as interpret the image and charac- ter of the State Capitol with its surrounding districts. f'~'~1 , J ,) \ i \ ( ~) I 1/ , " I I l tq lj\\~ \ \. ........ .'.- --- .--:"... ~-"-'''',-'-',~.'", ,; . : .. .........,.'..,...,...,' .....~..
