WORKSHOP MEETING
CITY COMMISSION
OCTOBER 16, 1984
The Workshop Meeting was called to order by Mayor John V. Torcaso at 7:00 p. m.
Roll Call:
Mayor John V. Torcaso, present
Deputy Mayor Buck Adkins, present
City Manager Richard Rozansky, present
Commissioners:
Jim Hartman, present
Inez Linville, present
William Jacobs, present
Leanne Grove, present
Also Present:
Police Chief John Govoruhk
Fire Chief Charles Holzman
Public Works Dir./City Engineer Charles Hassler
Discussion of maintenance of traffic during the construction of S.R. 419 -
Department of Transportation:
Mr. Harold Busley, senior designer, Mr. Ken Watts and Mrs. McKinsey with the
Dept. of Transportation in Deland, were present to apprise the City of the
improvements to S. R. 419, and to ask permission to use the City streets, mainly
North Edgemon Avenue and Wade Streets as temporary detours for traffic.
They will be reconstructing a 24-ft. two lane road with 4 foot paved shoulders on
each side, from North Edgemon Ave. to Wade Street. They anticipate construction
to start in July and take approximately four months to complete. They said if
Moss Road is completed, they will take care of any connections and any side
drains required.
. Commissioner Hartman asked when "new" 434 (old 419) down through Tuscawilla Road
would be four-laned, and they said they would get back to the City with that informa-
tion.
Mr. Ken Watts assured the City that N. Edgemon Ave. and Wade Street will be
resurfaced after the project is completed by D. o. T.
Discussion with Citizens Advisory Committee of the Seminole County Expressway
Authority:
Mr. Gordon Dehler, Chairman of the Citizens Advisory Committee of the Seminole County
Expressway Authority, and Mr. Bill Fernandez, an appointed member were present.
Mr. Dehler was present to tell the Commission what they have been doing and he
presented a proposed map showing a proposed location for the expressway. He asked
for the City's input as to where they want and do not want the expressway to be
located.
Meeting was adjourned 8:40 p. m.
