REQUEST: The Parks and Recreation Department is requesting that the City Commission
consider approval of the Torcaso Park Area Master Plan and provide further
direction as needed.
PURPOSE: The purpose of this item is to consider approval of the Torcaso Park Area
Master Plan and provide further direction as needed.
CONSIDERATIONS:
• The City Commission at the August 11, 2009, meeting approved that a master plan of
Torcaso Park be done by Forest Michael, Planning and Landscape Architecture.
• Staff has met with Mr. Michael several times.
• Also, other city staff has provided information and comments to the Torcaso Park Area
Master Plan.
• The Torcaso Park Area Master Plan is ready for City Commission review and direction.
• The elements of the Master Plan include:
o Stone signs on park corners
o Preserve
o Streetscape
o Convert Civic Center/Senior Fitness Center
o Park Entrance (ADA)
o Sports Field
o Non-Profit Family Services Center

0 1St Street Landscaping and Lighting
o Multiuse Trail
o Pond Edge
o Exotic Removal
o Stormwater Pond
o Purchase Lot

RECOMMENDATIONS:
