Dear Chief Govoruhk:
n
An inspection of the Cumberland Farms Store on SR 434 was made on October
15, 1975. There is a drainage problem between this store and the residents
of Hacienda Village directly behind the store. This problem is caused by a
natural high water table and insufficient landscaping, ditching and drainage.
A combination of ditching, swales and underdrains should be able to correct
the problem of runoff to Hacienda from Cumberland Farms.
In my estimation, there is no serious health problem at this time caused by
the septic :tank system at Cumberland Farms. At the time of my inspection,
there were no odors or signs of raw sewage. There were no openings or holes
into the tank or drainfield. There was some water standing on the surface.
Samples were taken and Environmental Services agreed to run bacteriological
tests on these samples. We will notify you as soon as these results are
available. If you have any further questions, please feel free to contact
this department.
Sincerely,
O. L. Barks, M. D.,
Director
