VILLAGEIOF NORTH ORLANDO
SEPTEMBER 28, 1970
The Workshop Session of the Village Council of the Village of
North Orlando, Florida was called to order by Mayor Jordan at
7:33 p.m.
A Pledge of Allegiance to the Flag was led by Mr. DelVillaggio.
On Roll Call the following were present:

Richard Allen
Of the twenty-eight applications received, the Mayor suggested
selecting five to be interviewed for the position of Building
Inspector.
Mr. Gordan Jarrell,
Mr. Gaede, Mr. Maheau and/Vice PresidEn t of Florida Public
Utilities were present to speak for Florida Public Utilities
for a franchise with the Village of North Orlando. They stated
they were ready, willing and able to serve the Village, and that
lines were already in effect to Seminole Junior College. Rates
are under the jurisdiction f the state Public Service Commission.
They said there was no shortage of natural gas, and if the need
arose, they would out off the interruptables first.
Mr. John Durney and Jon S. Zern were present for Suburban Propane.
After much discussion, it was decided to grant a franchise to
Fla. Public Utilities, giving the Village added revenue and
enabling the customer to choose whichever company he wishes.
This would be discussed further at our next regular Council Meeting.
It was decided not to change the Election Ordinance, but to set
up a Charter Review Committee, to study our charter and make
all the necessary revisions at one time. The Mayor asked the
Councilmen to submit one name each at the November Council Meeting,
so that this Committee would have at .least three months to
discuss and study the present charter, make the necessary changes,
and have them up before the legislature when it meets in February.
The Workshop Session was then adjourned.
