Recognizing Chief Of Police Kevin Brunelle And The Entire Winter Springs Police
Department In Honor Of "Law Enforcement Appreciation Month", "Police Week"
2009, and "Law Enforcement Memorial Day".
PROCLAMATION?
'WHEREAS Law Enforcement Officers are our guardians of life and properrty, defenders of the individual right to be free men,
warriors in the war against crime and dedicated-to the preservation of life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness; and
WHEREAS In 1962, President John F. Kennedy signed Public Law 87-726 which proclaims May 15 of each year as "Peace Officers
Memorial Day" and the calendar week of each year during which such May 15 occurs as "Police Week"; and the Congress of the United States
of America has designated the week of May 15th to be dedicated as "National Law Enforcement Officer Week" and one day in May each year
to be "Law Enforcement Memorial Day"; and
VVHEREAS Pursuant to Florida Statutes 683.11, "the month of May of each year is hereby designated `Law Enforcement
Appreciation Month'."
HEREAS Law Enforcement Officers devote their lives to selflessly protecting the citizens of this wonderful City we call home and of
this great country we call the United States of America, regardless of the danger or possible peril to themselves; and
WHEREAS The men and women of our Winter Springs Police Department, who patrol our streets and keep our loved ones safe;
who watch with eagle eyes on those passing through; who take call after call from the citizens of this community and try to calm their worries;
who instantly respond to every danger that arises; who just by seeing open doors, offer a helpful warning to those inside that prevents future
trouble; who are there at a moment's notice when they are called; and who protect the young, and safeguard the elderly, and are there for
everyone in between, whenever they are needed; and
WHEREAS Especially during this week, this month, and all year long, we wish to recognize and honor all of our dedicated Law
Enforcement Officers and call upon all citizens of the City of Winter Springs to show our sincere appreciation and admiration for these Police
Officers, who protect our homes and family each day and night while we sleep, and who are willing to sacrifice their lives, if,necessary, to
guard our loved ones and protect our property. l
Mayor of the City of Winter Springs, do hereby issue this Proclamation in honor of
"Law Enforcement Appreciation Month"
"Police Week" 2009, & "Law Enforcement Memorial Day"
Being held this week of May 10 - 16, 2009, and this month of May 2009, and I call upon all of our citizens to offer their sincerest thanks and
gratitude to Winter Springs Police Officers who through their efforts every single day, make it possible for us to leave our loved ones and our
homes each day and to return back to our homes at night knowing they are very well protected by our Police Department, who are willing to
sacrifice their lives if necessary, to guard our loved ones, property, and government against all who would violate the law; and I ask: the
residents and business owners of the City of Winter Springs to pay tribute to the valor, the service, and the dedication to the preservation of
life by the representatives of our Winter Springs Police Department.
