The Special Heeting of the Village Council of the Village of North Orlando
was called. to order at 7:40 P.H. by Vice-Mayor Lloyd Brown.
A Pledge of Allegiance to the Flag was given.
Roll Call:
Mayor, George Fuller, aBsent.
Vice-Mayor, IJ.oyd Brown
Attorney, Tom Freeman
All present.
Councilmen: Jay Wetz
Charles Rowell
Granville Brown
Charles !4cIntosh
The minutes of the Regular meeting of June 5th were dispensed. liith until
the next regular meeting.
The contract with C and M Refuse, for garbage pick-up, was read. A
discussion was held. A letter is to be sent out to the residents after a work
shop is held. A motion has already been made to accept the bid of C and M
Refuse. On Roll Call Vote: Rowell, nYes"(if gates are closed); Gerry Brown,
"Yesll; Charles McIntosh, "Yestt; Jay Wetz, uYes1t; and Lloyd Brown, ItYesu. The
contract was accepted unanimously. Mr. Macek presented a check for $250.00
for a performance bond.
,/"" Mr. McIntosh suggested that most of the Agenda was just routine and should.
be left for Regular meeting. Just the Garbage Contract and the Police Department
will be taken care of at this Special Meeting.
Mr. Wetz explained that, after July first, requirements of a candidate
for police officers would have to be according to State Government Standards.
The candidates would be required to attend Special Schools and the expenses
would be high. A letter was read from Chief DeVoe, stating an extra patrolman
is needed in case of an emergency and that promotion should take place now.
Chief DeVoe recommended that ~ Lyons, Jr. be changed from Auxiliary Police
Nan to Patrolman, as l-1r. Lyons was well qualified to fill this position. l<1r.
Lyons will have the same financial agreement as :Hr. LaFollette. He will receive
no pay except when he is called out to serve. Motion WaS made by Mr., Wetz to
promote Lynn Lyons, Jr. to position of patrolman. Seconded by Mr. McIntosh.
A discussion was held. Unanimously approved by Council.
A Criminal Code,for the Village of North Orlando, will be drawn up by
Mr. Freeman, and presented at the next regular meeting, July 3.
Motion was made
adjourn at 8:45 P.M.
by Mr. Wetz and seconded by l<fr. McIntosh that the meeting
Unanimously approved by Council.
