PROCEEDINGS AT COUNCIL MEETING
VILLAGE OF NORTH ORLANDO, FLORIDA
FEBRUARY 6, 1962, at 8:00 P.M.
Mayor Fasula called the meeting to order. In attendance
were: Mayor Fasula, Councilmen Memory, Stripling and Terebo.
The Village Clerk read the minutes of the previous
meeting held January 9, 1962. The Mayor noted that the minutes
stated that a voter did not have to be registered, but that the
reference was as to County registration. He called for any
other corrections or additions. Hearing none, the minutes
were approved as read.
The Mayor asked for any committee reports. Mr. Stephenson
reported that an unusually large number of fires had occurred
recently. He requested five helmets and raincoats for the Volunteer
Fire Department, but Mayor Fasula stated that no Village funds
were available, and suggested that the Volunteer Fire Department
conduct some fund raising activities of its own.
Mr. Bill Donofrio announced that the formal opening of the
recreation area was planned for February 25, 1962, between the
hours of 2:00 and 5:00 P.M.
There were a number of guests present at this meeting and
at this time the Mayor requested that they identify themselves.
They were County Commissioners Vernon Dunn, John Fitzpatrick and
Jim Avery, also George Bobrow of the Seminole County Zoning Board.
The Commissioners made various comments on the forthcoming
election to be held in the Village, stressing the importance of

registering and voting. They stated that a voting machine
would be provided by the County for use by the Village.
There was also a lengthy discussion on civil defense between
the County Commissioners and residents who were present.
Mr. Larry Vershel, managing editor of The Sanford Herald,
who had been invited to attend the meeting, spoke on the
responsibility of the newspaper in reporting the news and
the responsibility of the citizens to read the newspaper in
order to be informed of all matters of interest to the community.
Mr. Woody Anderson, president of the Civic Association,
noted recent damage done to the recreation area, and requested
that the Village send a letter to the residents informing them
of the destruction of property at the recreation area and
advising that parents would be held responsible for damages
done by their children.
There being no further business to come before the meeting,
on motion of Councilman Memory, the meeting was adjourned.
Respectfully submitted,
~~r!~
Elizabeth S. Helmly,
Village Clerk
