Call to Order Chairperson Lup called the meeting to order at 8:20 a.m. in the conference room of the Winter Springs Municipal Building. 2. Roll Call Also Present Mel Glickman, present Jim Lup, Chairperson, present Mayor John Bush, present Sally McGinnis, present Jackie Gieseler, present Walt Dittmer, absent John Ketteringham, General Services Director Tom Grimms, Community Dev. Coordinator 3. Discussion of Breakfast MeetinglLetter to Business Owners (This item was discussed after item #4) The board agreed on June 12, 1996 as the date for the Breakfast Meeting. The Breakfast will begin at 7:30 a.m., and run until approximately 9 a.m. The City Manager will speak about 8 a.m. The Commission should be invited. McGinnis suggested that the Chairperson introduce the City Manager and give a synopsis of the Commerce/Industry Development Board. Discussion of when and how a survey would be distributed. Mayor Bush asked Grimms to supply samples of survey's to the board. Glickman suggested mailing the survey along with the occupational license renewal's and letter from the Mayor. The Breakfast is going to be held at the Senior Center. The recording secretary exited, called Susie Coffman, and reserved the Senior Center for June 12, 1996, 7 a.m. The board discussed revisions to the letter that will be mailed to the business owners inviting them to the breakfast. The letter will be mailed by May 24, 1996. The board agreed to change May's meeting date to the 22nd. The envelopes will be stuffed for mailing at that meeting. Discussion on asking all of the boards to attend the breakfast. Mayor Bush said he would write a letter to local supermarkets asking for donations of baked goods for the breakfast. A program of the meeting could include recognition of the donators. Gieseler offered to print the program. 4. Discussion of Community Map Company's contract (This item was discussed before item #3) Glickman was told that the contract had been sent to the city manager. Discussion of the city map, information, and pictures that will go into the map. Mayor Bush suggested that Chairperson Lup ask the City Manager to respond to the inquiries the Commission made. McGinnis suggested upgrading the photography in the map. Mayor Bush said that he would bring in pictures for the board to select. He also suggested asking the elementary and middle school children to enter into a contest. He will give a $50.00 prize for the best picture. Glickman suggested having first, second and third place prizes. He asked the board members if they had any objection to him sending a letter out to the schools. There were no objections. McGinnis mentioned a caption "Photo by...", and Glickman mentioned putting the child's age on it also. The members agreed it was a good idea. McGinnis suggested a photo display for city hall of all of the photos entered into the contest. The photos will not be returned. 5. Adjournment Chairperson Lup adjourned the meeting at 9:00 a.m. /mj
