from the ad they solicit. That is the only way to get money back. Brief discussion of the city
soliciting the ads. Glickman said he would get further information from the map company.
b) Information regarding the Orlando Chamber, Small Business Expo
Glickman said that the expo will be held May 8 and 9, 1996. The cost would be $675.00 for
the two days. The board members didn't feel this would be an appropriate show to attend.
Glickman suggested the members keep their ears open for other shows.

McGinnis said suggestions were made for a survey at the last meeting. (Examples: use colored

5. Do you believe the city infrastructure could be improved? If yes, How?
6. Would you recruit other businesses to locate into Winter Springs?
Gieseler said that a shorter survey would get a better response. McGinnis said that it would be
cost effective to include the survey in the license renewal.
5. New Business
Glickman said that he attended the last Commission Meeting. It was mentioned that if
committees aren't making recommendations, then why have the committees. Glickman said
he advised the Commission that the Commerce and Industry Board is working to attract new
business, and is looking forward to meeting with the new city manager. Glickman said the
board has been given four months to come back to the Commission with recommendations.
McGinnis said that it's unfortunate that in the last year there has never been a city representative
present at one of their meetings. Glickman said when he joined the committee, the mayor
attended every meeting.
Glickman said that he will be doing business in Winter Springs, and is interested in seeing what
information is given to new businesses coming to the city.
Glickman said that a key to moving forward would be meeting with the city manager on a
structured basis; discussing all the things on the members minds and fmding out how to proceed
so that the Commission will act on issues. The members requested that the new city manager
attend the Commerce and Industry Development Board meeting in February.
McGinnis suggested that periodic reports and positive comments on improvements to the media
are needed to get the message out to businesses that progress is being made.
Glickman shared an article from 1992 about the Commerce and Industry Board. McGinnis said
that the board needs to continue publishing periodic updates.
