Call to Order: The meeting was called to order by Chairman Lup at 8:25 a.m. in the conference room of city hall. 2. Roll Call: Jim Lup, Chairman, present Sally McGinnis, absent Jackie Gieseler, present Mel Glickman, present Walt Dittmer, absent 3. Approval of September 13. 1995 Minutes: Chairman Lup asked for any changes to the minutes. No comments. Minutes stand approved as read. 4. Old Business: C a) Update on letter regarding a periodical meeting between commission and boards: Lup said he is waiting on a response to the letter he wrote to the mayor. b) Update on letter regarding the internal procedure for city inquiries: Copies of the response letter from the City Manager were distributed to the board members. c) Discussion of expo booth: Glickman distributed a price list for table top displays. He recommended an 8 foot display with a price range of $1359.00 to $1480.00. The display folds up and carries easy. It can be used by city departments, or for displays in the lobby. A professional looking display could be put together for less than $2500.00, including graphics. The cost of the show is additional. Glickman said he would find out the price for the Seminole County Chamber of Commerce show which will be held in March. Gieseler said she would inquire on a couple of sources regarding different shows. C Committee members and staff could volunteer tending the booth. Brief discussion on ways to attract the public at the shows. Examples: give away coupons from local restaurants; collect business cards for drawings to give away donated items. Lup said the board will research, then return to the next meeting prepared to draft a letter to the city manager. ,," c Minutes Commerce/Industry Development Board October 11, 1995 Meeting Page 2 d) Update from Glickman referencingfuture solicitationfrom map company: Glickman stated that two years ago a map company approached the mayor (Kulbes) about doing a map of the city of Winter Springs. Ads are solicited to local merchants to pay for the cost of the brochure. The city supplies the map and pictures. Last time, the map (brochure) was done in two or three colors with the pictures in black ink, but is now in full color. The only cost to the city would be the mailing expenses. Lup said he would send a cover letter along with the packet to John Govoruhk. This map could also go with the C.I.D. Board brochure to people inquiring about the city. 5. New Business: Lup said he received a letter from a man in New York asking for a Winter Springs business guide. A dollar bill was enclosed with the letter for postage. Lup said he would write back to him. Lup also stated that he has mailed out letters from his office regarding the board, so he would reimburse his company the dollar. C 6.
