WINTER SPRINGS COMMERCE AND INDUSTRY
DEVELOPMENT BOARD MEETING
NOVEMBER 8, 1990
The Commerce and Industry Development Board Meeting was called to order by Chairman
Ruth Smith at 4:00 p. m.
Roll Call:
Mayor Leanne M. Grove, absent
City Manager Richard Rozansky, absent
Chairman Ruth Smith, present
Gene Jones, present
Roger Owen,present
Jim Lup, present
Janet Helms, present
Motion was made by Mrs. Helms to approve the minutes of Oct. 11, 1990. Seconded by
Mr. Jones. Discussion. Vote: all ayes; motion carried.
Old Business:
Survey-review additional received: Chairman Smith gave a report on several additional
surveys that were received.
Visitation Reports:
Mr. Lup said he visited with Sherilyn Hill of State Farm. She was concerned about
having more commercial activity in the City, and that there is no "downtown" Winter
Springs. She said she was pretty much the driving force behind getting the claims
center to locate in Winter Springs.

The Board discussed sending a congratulatory letter to businesses on their anniversary
or for some other notable event.
Compilation Reports:
Mrs. Smith said the Board needs to be thinking how to put their report together to
present to the Commission.
New Business:
Report of Commission Meeting of October 22, 1990:
Chairman Smith reported the directory was very well received by the Commission.
The Board will be working on the mailout to the people who want to be in the Directory;
and also the Board will need to set the format for the report on the survey and the 1990
report to the Commission.
The Board called a Workshop Meeting for Wednesday, Nov. 14th in the Conference Room at
8:30 a.m. for survey report preparation.
Mr. Lup and Mrs. Helms will be working on the surveys. They will compile the answers
and from that the Board will make recommendations and comments to the Commission.
There was discussion of the Longwood/Winter Springs Chamber of Commerce. It was
determined it would be too difficult to start a Winter Springs Chamber at this point in
time, and the Board decided to give support to the Longwood/Winter Springs Chamber of
Commerce.

The Board discussed the letter that is to be sent to the businesses asking if they
want to be listed in the directory. A minimum of 150 participants will be required
to proceed with the publication.
Mrs. Smith said she is also looking to develop a formal list of available commercial
and industrial properties in Winter Springs.
Motion was made by Mrs. Helms to adjourn. Seconded by Mr. Lup. Meeting adjourned at
5:15 p.m.
