Roll Call: Mayor Leanne M. Grove, absent City Manager Richard Rozansky, present Chairman Ruth Smith, present Gene Jones, present Roger Owen, present Jim Lup, present Janet Helms, present Motion was made by Mr. Jones to approve the minutes of August 9, 1990 as presented. Old Business: Discussion of Surveys that have been returned: Janet Helms reported that 454 surveys were mailed out, 91 were wrong addressed or out of business; that leaves 363, divide by 5 you have 72 and 72 were received. A few weeks after the mailing was done, the occupational license list was purged and updated. The Board reviewed the surveys. New Business: Mr. Owen brought up the issue of the $50.00 per month Board members receive. The general concensus of the Board members was they did not want to receive the money. Motion was made by Mr. Owen that the entire Board discussed the subject of the $50.00 per month; they voted in favor of relinquishing this money from the Commerce & Industry Board, but if we incur any individual extraordinary expenses, then we feel those expenses could be brought to this committee for approval and then submitted to the City for their approval and payment. Seconded by Mr. Jones. In discussion the Board felt they could do their part in lowering the expenses of the City and others can look towards their overall budget and do the same thing. Vote on the motion: all ayes, motion carried unanimously. Chairman Smith said in reviewing the surveys the Board would like to find out if the businesses are going to expand, if they are having any problems, if they are looking to leave the area and if so why, and if the businesses would like to talk to someone. After the work on the survey is completed, the Board will resume their work on the brochure. Meeting was adjourned 5:05 p.m. Respectfully submitted, Mary T. Norton, City Clerk
