COMMERCE AND INDUSTRY DEVELOPMENT BOARD MEETING CITY OF WINTER SPRINGS JULY 12, 1990 The Commerce and Industry Development Board Meeting was called to order by Chairman Ruth Smith at 4:00 P.M.. ROLL CALL: Mayor Leanne M. Grove, absent City Manager Richard Rozansky, absent Chairman Ruth Smith, present Gene Jones, present Roger Owen, present Jim Lup, present Janet Helms, absent In the paragraph "Comprehensive Land Plan" in the June 14, 1990 minutes, the next to last line states there will be more building permits. It should read there will be less building permits. Mr Jones made a motion to approve the June 14 minutes as amended. Mr. Owen seconded the motion. Discussion. All ayes. Motion carried. Jim Lup was welcomed as the new member of the Board. Chairman Smith distributed the survey and letter which are to be mailed to all businesses in Winter Springs. Discussion. Chairman Smith reported on the memo she got from Mayor Grove stating that the budget is being acted upon at the Commission Workshop Meeting on July 16. The Board needs to decide how much money rt will need. Discussion. It was decided to ask for $500 to get the survey mailed out, and another $4,500 for the brochure. Chairman Smith discussed ways of obtaining grant monies, etc.. Mr. Owen made a motion to request a $5,000 budget for the year 1990/91 for the Commerce and Industry Committee, of which $500 will be used for the survey and $4,500 toward the brochure. Discussion. Mr. Jones seconded the motion. All ayes. Motion carried. Mr. Owen made a motion that we recommend that the survey be printed and sent out to 450 businesses within the city limits of Winter Springs as soon as possible, and the $500 estimated cost for postage, printing, envelopes, etc. be taken from some contingency fund of the City. Mr. Jones seconded the motion. All ayes. Motion carried. Chairman Smith said there should be a follow-up to the survey. The people who answer the survey should be told that the information in these surveys will be compiled and forwarded to the City Commission.
