COMMERCE AND INDUSTRY DEVELOPMENT BOARD MEETING CITY OF WINTER SPRINGS JUNE 14, 1990 The Commerce and Industry Development Board Meeting was called to order by Chairman Ruth Smith at 4:00 P.M.. ROLL CALL: Mayor Leanne M. Grove, absent City Manager Richard Rozansky, present Chairman Ruth Smith, present Gene Jones, present Roger Owen, absent Janet Helms, present Jim Lup was also present. Mr. Jones made a motion to approve the minutes of the May 10, 1990 meeting as presented. Mrs. Helms seconded the motion. All ayes. Motion carried. Mrs. Smith commented on the status of Roger Owen. He has missed three meetings. She said he had to be out of town, but he does desire to be on the Board. She suggested waiving the three meetings rule in this instance. Mr. Jones made a motion to retain Roger Owen. Mrs. Helms seconded the motion. All ayes. Motion carried. Mrs. Smith said she would call Mr. Partyka about the possibility of Jim Lup as a member of the Board. She said he was willing to be on the Board. Member Reports: Mr. Jones said he would like to ask if there was any critique or comment on the questionnaires he gave out at the last meeting. Mrs. Smith presented a list of all of the businesses in the City. She said she has been in a program of training and working directly with Pat Warner Hollis from Mid FL E.D.C.. Ms. Hollis is responsible for the existing program that the E.D.C. is working on. They did a survey which Mrs. Smith showed to the Board. She said they sent the survey out to existing industries. Sixty percent of the industries that responded are going to be in the,.expans:lon mode. The other .focus of the ~istJng Industry Program is to let the people kn~w whats available to them. She said we would be able to offer this to the people in Winter Springs. Mrs. Smith said she would get the mail-outs prepared. She said it would cost approximately $250 to mail them out. Comprehensive Land Plan - Planning & Zoning Board Meeting, June 6, 1990: Mrs. Smith said she believes that the kind of businesses that will come to Winter Springs will be to serve the people of Winter Springs, no major projects or large office complexes. At the Comprehensive Land Plan Meeting, they were looking at the commercial core around the center city area. Probably the most overriding factor is that when the Land Plan goes into effect, and in October, there will be more building permits. The message at the meeting was that 434 will be widened. Mrs. Helms asked about follow-up calls after the mail-outs are sent out. It was agreed there should be calls. The cover letter was discussed. Mrs. Smith suggested using a stamped return envelope. Mr. Rozansky said he would take a letter from the Board to the Commission telling them what the Board wants to do.
