COMMERCE AND INDUSTRY DEVELOPMENT BOARD MEETING MARCH 8, 1990 The Winter Springs Commerce and Industry Development Board Meeting was called to order by Chairman Ruth Smith at 4:00 P.M.. ROLL CALL: Mayor Leanne M. Grove, absent City Manager Richard Rozansky, present Chairman Ruth Smith, present C.E. Jones, present Roger Owens, present Janet Helms, present In the amended minutes of December 14, 1989, Mr. Jones said that where it says St. Paul, Minnesota, it should say St. Charles, Missouri. Mr. Jones made a motion to accept the minutes as corrected. Mr. Rozansky seconded the motion. Motion carried. Chairman Smith introduced Janet Helms who is taking Dr. Alan Fickett's place on the Board. Jim Hanley has resigned from the Board, as he is moving to Pensacola. Member Reports: Mr. Owen said he called David Hopkins, Chairman of the Planning & Zoning Board. Mr. Hopkins said he would notify the Commerce and Industry Board of anything that comes up that may be of interest. New Business: Commissioner Kulbes reported that he spoke with Mr. Dycus who is with Fletcher Bright Realty, a representative of the owner of Piggly Wiggly. He said the owner is amenable to renting the property to someone else. Mr. Jim Lup spoke of the plans of Schrimsher, the Company he is with, which owns a considerable amount of land in Winter Springs. He gave the members of the Board hand-outs showing his company's property. The property is commercially zoned. They recently closed on a sale to Mobil Oil. At this point, they are focusing on the north east corner of the property, where they plan to have a shopping center anchored by a movie theatre, grocery store, specialty shops, etc.. Next to the railroad tracks is a bank site, a gas station site, a restaurant or day care site, and a strip center site. He said they will want to work hand in hand with the City. Discussion.
