WINTER SPRINGS COMMERCE AND INDUSTRY DEVELOPMENT BOARD THURSDAY, JUNE 8, 1989 The Winter Springs Commerce and Industry Development Board Meeting was called to order by Chairman Ruth Smith at 4:00 P.M.. ROLL CALL: Mayor Leanne M. Grove, absent City Manager Richard Rozansky, present Chairman Ruth Smith, present Tom Binford, present Jim Cooper, absent Alan Fickett, absent Jon Hall, present Motion was made by Mr. Binford to approve the minutes of May 11, 1989. Seconded by Mr. Hall. All ayes. Motion carried. . Chairman Smith discussed the Planning and Zoning Board Meeting which she attended on May 17. She said that they were still working on the commercial core and the commercial area on 434 south of the railroad tracks that butts up against the single family residential area in Tuscawilla. At the meeting) she was asked to discuss what had been discussed at the last meeting of the Commerce and Industry Board - maybe going multi-family in the commercial core near the 7-11, and commercial up on the 434 area. It was then brought up at the meeting about possibly going single family, multi-family, and commercial. Chairman Smith said that there is not enough area there for all of that. She said that when she left the meeting, she did not get an impression of any decision at that time. Another factor, she said, in not coming to a decision, is waiting to see what Duda is going to do. If they are going to come onto Winter Springs Boulevard, the cut off will be at Seneca, or if they are going to come into Oviedo, there was talk of sealing off Winter Springs Boulevard from access. There was strong opposition to closing off the road, and there were some who were very much in favor of it. Also there was talk of making Trotwood just an access road for the people in Tuscawilla, and not make any major entrance into the commercial properties off of Trotwood. Chairman Smith discussed the brochure. She said that Jackie is going to order some material on marketing economic development. The categories to be included in the brochure, and the members of the Board who Chairman Smith felt would take each category are as follows: Community Facilities, City Manager, Richard Rozansky; Education, Chairman Smith; Cultural, Dr. Fickett; Recreation, Mr. Cooper; Financial, Mr. Binford; Labor Analysis, Mayor Grove; Communications, Chairman Smith; Utilities, Mr. Hall; Zoning, Mr. Binford; Transportation, Mr. Hall; Real Estate, probably every- one will have a part in that. Chairman Smith mentioned the Sanford airport as another area for transportation because of the 16 new hangers they are putting in, and the runway, etc.. Chairman Smith suggested featuring businesses that are already here, perhaps in a newsletter, in order to support them. . Chairman Smith said that the City stationery with the name of the Board under the City logo, would be sufficient for stationery for the Commerce and Industry Board. Mr. Hall suggested pin pointing some of the businesses t~thave been around, such as in Orlando - Central Park, etc., and present the package to them of what Winter Springs has to offer.
