CALL TO ORDER Mr. Chuck Pula, Parks and Recreation Department Director called the Meeting to order at 7:04 p.m., Thursday, February 14, 2002 in the East Training Room of the Municipal Building (City Hall, 1126 East State Road 434, Winter Springs, Florida 32708). Roll Call: Committee Member Jacqueline Adams, present Committee Member George Barcus, present Committee Member Paula Davoli, present Committee Member Tim Johnson, present Committee Member Sally McGinnis, present Committee Member Rodney S. Owens, present Committee Member Vernon Rozelle, Jr., absent Committee Member Kelly Thompson, absent Committee Member Ron Zarbaugh, present II. CONSENT None. .:. .:. AGENDA NOTE: THE FOLLOWING REGULAR AGENDA ITEMS WERE DISCUSSED AS DOCUMENTED. .:. .:. III. REGULAR REGULAR C. Committee Discussion/Directions. Ms. Holly N. Pierstorff, Assistant To The City Clerk distributed a Memo from City Manager Ronald W. McLemore to the Board Members addressing "Paw Parks". Discussion followed. "I WILL FORMALLY MOVE TO DISCONTINUE DISCUSSION, TABLE ANY DISCUSSION, ACTUALLY DISCONTINUING DISCUSSION ABOUT A "PAW P ARK" WITHIN THE CONFINES OF THIS COMMITTEE UNLESS WE ARE DIRECTED BY THE CITY COMMISSION." SECONDED BY COMMITTEE MEMBER McGINNIS. DISCUSSION. WITH CONSENSUS OF THE COMMITTEE, THE MOTION WAS APPROVED. MOTION CARRIED. Committee Member George Barcus spoke for the record about Lacrosse and handed out some documents. Discussion developed on additional venues that could be included in the footprint at Central Winds Park, possibly outdoor basketball courts, youth playground, lighted tennis courts, a practice wall, and a half acre skate park. REGULAR B. Public Input. Ms. Joanne Krebs, 1002 Taproot Drive, Winter Springs, Florida: spoke of the need for playgrounds and activities for handicapped youth and adults. Mr. Rich Grennen, 706 Meadowbrook Drive, Winter Springs, Florida: spoke of handicapped activities. Mr. Bob Rucci, 973 Turkey Hollow Circle, Winter Springs, Florida: gave thanks to the Committee Members and asked about the eleven (II) potential pieces of property that are available for a proposed "Paw Park". In regards to the pieces of property, the Committee advised Mr. Rucci of the upcoming City Commission Workshop March 18,2002 addressing a "Paw Park". REGULAR A. Staff/Consultant Reports. Mr. Forest Michael, Michael Design Associates, 130 North Center Street, Suite 1, Winter Park, Florida: presented a new footprint for the park including two (2) soccer fields, two (2) football/lacrosse fields, four (4) softball fields, and a multi purpose area which included a track. Tape l/Side B Discussion followed on parking spaces, removal of arbors, and water retention. I've been taking a lot of notes, I've got about eleven (11) items that we've discussed and what I would like to do is draft them and present them to you all next week. Then we can fine tune each item, item by item basis." The Committee Members agreed. IV. FUTURE AGENDA ITEMS · Staff/Consultant Reports. · Presentation With Committee Member Paula Davoli. . Public Input. · Committee Discussion/Directions. V. REPORTS Committee Member Barcus informed the Committee "Next week is my last Meeting" and stated that he had "No objection" if a Special Meeting was held prior to that date. VI. ADJOURNMENT MOTION BY COMMITTEE MEMBER DAVOLI. "MOVE TO ADJOURN." SECONDED BY COMMITTEE MEMBER ZARBAUGH. DISCUSSION. WITH CONSENSUS OF THE COMMITTEE, THE MOTION WAS APPROVED. MOTION CARRIED.
