OAK FOREST WALL AND BEAUTIFICATION
DISTRICT ADVISORY COMMITTEE
REGULAR MEETING
JUNE 12, 2003
I. CALL TO ORDER
Chairman Terry Patten called the Regular Meeting to order at 7:00 p.m., Thursday,
June 12, 2003 in the Commission Chambers of the Municipal Building (City Hall, 1126
East State Road 434, Winter Springs, Florida 32708).

Vice Chairperson Louise Allen, present
Committee Member Paul Krebs, present
Committee Member Michael Tackaberry, present
Committee Member Lorie Taylor, present
II. CONSENT
CONSENT
A. Approval Of The April 10, 2003 Regular Meeting Minutes.
"I WOULD LIKE TO MAKE A MOTION THAT WE ACCEPT THE MINUTES
AS PRESENTED." MOTION BY COMMITTEE MEMBER KREBS.
SECONDED BY COMMITTEE MEMBER TAYLOR. DISCUSSION. WITH
CONSENSUS OF THE COMMITTEE, THE MOTION WAS APPROVED.
MOTION CARRIED.
III. REGULAR
REGULAR
A. Budget.
Mr. Alan Hill, Superintendent, Public Works Department discussed the upcoming Budget
Workshops that are to be held. Chairman Patten advised the Committee that he will be
attending the June 23, 2003 City Commission Budget Workshop and that if any other
Committee Members would li~e to attend to please do so.

Brief discussion.
B. Maintenance Issues.
Mr. Hill introduced Mr. Steven Richart, Urban Beautification Coordinator, Public Works
Department.
Mr. Richart spoke of his responsibilities; that a new contract for the entrances has been
awarded; the dead Nellie R. Stevens Hollies along the south wall on Tuscawilla Road
will be removed along with two (2) others on the north part of the wall; that he will keep
the weeding done on a regular basis; and also will keep the Indian Hawthornes and the
annuals trimmed below the signage.
Committee Member Lorie Taylor commented, "On one side of Winter Springs
[Boulevard] Entrance, I understand that there was a watering problem and an irrigation
problem. Committee Member Taylor added that the plants and matter look different
compared to the other side.
Committee Member Louise Allen asked, "Are you replacing those dead [Nellie R.
Stevens] Hollies with something else?" Mr. Hill responded, "For now we are just going
to take them out because they are an eyesore. We do not have any irrigation down there
and right now with our resources we cannot water it."

This Agenda Item was not discussed.

E. Wall Extension.
Referring to the progress of having the plat recorded, Committee Member Michael
Tackaberry informed the Committee that "Three (3) of the mortgage companies have
been approved and four (4) more to go yet."

Chairman Patten remarked that "The maintenance is looking great." Committee Member
Taylor added, "We can see where Winter Springs ends and the County begins."

"I MOVE THAT WE ADJOURN." MOTION BY COMMITTEE MEMBER
TACKABERRY. SECONDED BY VICE CHAIRPERSON ALLEN.
DISCUSSION. WITH CONSENSUS THE COMMITTEE, THE MOTION WAS
APPROVED.
MOTION CARRIED.
Chairman Patten adjourned the Meeting at 7:37 p.m.
