RE: 606 Tina Lane
The unpermitted clearing and removal of vegetation and trees at 606
Tina Lane is an obvious violation of the city Arbor ordinance. In
order to compensate for this action under Section 5-5 of the code
the city can request a financial penality and replacement of trees
lost. By planting suitable species of replacement trees of different
heights and sizes, this will help to restore the site and also help
create a buffer for the affected properties adjacent to this site.
A list of species, sizes, and quanities are as follows:
Magnolia virginiana (Sweet Bay)- 5 fifteen gallon, 10 three gallon
Ilex cassine (Dahoon holly)- 5 fifteen gallon, 10 three gallon
Carpinus caroliniana (Ironwood)- 5 fifteen gallon, 10 three gallon
Cercis canadensis (Red Bud) - 3 fifteen gallon
The above species should go in the shade areas on the east edge of
the property.
Taxodium distichum (Bald Cypress) - 5 fifteen gallon
Cypress can be planted in the sun.
The replacement trees must be protected from domestic animals such
as dogs or horses, and from possible. damage by mowers or lawn
cutting equipment. All trees must survive' for'at least a one
year per~od after instal~tion or be replaced. The above sizes
are a minimum and can be increased .by the property owner.
The trees recommended above are known to. thrive and occur in the
area described on the property (except Red Bud). It is the arborist
opinion that these species will do good and help to restore the site.
If substitute species are chosen, they must first be approved by
the city Arborist.
