TITLE: The Police Department informing the Commission of results of
implementing the new Computer Aided Dispatch System.
PURPOSE: This agenda item is to provide the Commission with the information
regarding the new Computer Aided Dispatch System.
CONSIDERATIONS: On May 27, 1999, the Police Department went "live" with
the new Computer Aided Dispatch Software system. The project manager from Open
Software Solutions Incorporated was present for the cutover. The transition went
smoother than expected and there was no interruption of service to the residents. The
system has been implemented at one-third the cost of many other systems available, such
as HTE.
The implementation for the sister system, RMS (Records Management System), is on
time. Training for the system is scheduled to begin June 21, 1999 with the actual
transition scheduled for July 12, 1999.
