Commission that the Stormwater Utility has been Awarded. a Grant from the
St. Johns River Water Management District.
PURPOSE: The purpose of this Board item is to notify the City Commission that a $30,000

quality improvement project to the Wade Street outfall.
CONSIDERATIONS:
The Stormwater Division has been notified by the St. Johns River Water
Management District that the City's application for a local Cost-Share grant in the
amount of $30,000 has been approved. The funds will be used to construct a debris
structure at the Wade Street outfall. This structure will improve water quality by
controlling silt and debris originating from the Meadowlark subdivision for which there is
currently no treatment to the stormwater runoff.
In addition to the retrofit project, the stormwater personnel on March 18t11 will be
coordinating a public relations project with the SJRWMD and Winter Springs High
School. This project consists of installing drainage inlet markers and painting "Drains to
Lake" on approximately 45 catch basins throughout the City. The goal is to raise public
awareness of the relationship between stormwater and water quality and also serve as an
educational tool for the participating students.
