REQUEST: City Manager requesting the Commission to approve the use
of Central Winds Park for the Annual Rotary Club fund raising
event on Saturday May 1, 1999, and City participation in the
event.
PURPOSE: This agenda item is needed to gain Commission approval of the
use of Central Winds Park for Rotary Club Annual fund raising
event and approval of the City's participation in the event.
CONSIDERA TION:
In recent years the Winter Springs Rotary Club has had an annual
Arts Festival in December for one of its fund raising events, the
proceeds of which go to charitable causes.
The City in the past two years has donated $2,500 to the event and
provided police and fire protection.
In an attempt to increase revenues with less solicitation from the
public, Rotary has decided to change its format from the Annual
Arts Festival to a Spring Festival, including music and fireworks.
Rotary has entered into an agreement with Mountain View
Productions to organize and fund the program free of charge to the
public from advertising sponsorships. Bob Dance has agreed to
sponsor the program this year. The program will consist of a 50
piece orchestra and fireworks display as follows:
Gate Open
Pre-Show Entertainment
Orchestra
Fireworks
6:00p.m.
7:00p.m.
8:00p.m.
8:45p.m.
As in the past, Rotary is requesting the City provide police, fire, and
emergency medical services and to provide the use of Central
Winds Park for the location of the event.
The program will be entitled Rotary Club of Winter Springs and Bob
Dance "Symphony of Fireworks".
FUNDING:
It is anticipated that the cost to the City would be less than $1,000.
This item is budgeted in the FY 99 Budget.
RECOMMENDATION:
It is recommended that the Commission approve the use of Central
Winds Park on May 1, 1999 for the location of the Rotary Club's
Springs fund raising event, and authorize the use of police, fire and
emergency medical services for the event.
