Call to Order Vice-Chairperson Beecher called the meeting to order at 7:00 p.m. in the conference room, Municipal Building. 2. Roll Call Also Present Carol Morrison, Chairperson, absent Darline Cook, present Ethel Beecher, present Dart Helgeson, present Marilyn Dickinson, present Dawna Ferguson, present John Herbert, present Alan Hill, Public Works Superintendent 3. ADDroval of the ADril 9. 1997 Reaular Meetlna Minutes Moved, seconded, and carried to approve the minutes as distributed. 4. Arbor Day Beecher said the Chairperson Morrison asked her to mention the idea of not having meetings in July and August. Not all members responded; Beecher said the idea can be brought up at the next meeting. Herbert distributed the new parks brochure to the members. Brief discussion. Hill distributed documents which described the trees that will be given away this year. (Redbud, Dahoon Holly, Tulip Poplar, Cherry Laurel) The next Arbor Day tree giveaway will be held at the Central Winds Park. Planting guides will be provided to people receiving trees. (One tree per Winter Springs residency) A date for the next giveaway has not been set; It will first be presented to the Commission at the June 9, 1997 Commission meeting. He suggested that the members come to the meeting for support. A map which highlighted all of the addresses that received trees at the last giveaway was displayed. Members asked for a map of the city. 5. Slanaae Hill explained that two samples of the round sign will be presented to the Commission at their June 9, 1997 meeting. The County would charge $281.00 to make each sign; however. Hill found a company to make the signs for $130.00. Moss Road and MurDhv Road XerlscaDlna The members discussed many different types of plants, and said they preferred that the islands have a natural look. Helgeson brought in samples of plants. A few of the members had their island suggestions documented; Hill received copies. Beecher asked everyone to go back to the drawing board with Helgeson's plant list and bring in their details next month. 7. Holldav Event Four thousand, eight hundred and three dollars has been budgeted for the event. 8. Deslanated Park lands Helgeson informed the members of her telephone conversation with Tom Grimms, Community Development Coordinator. Grimms told her that he would get more information and attend the June B.O.W.S. meeting. Copies of her report were distributed. 9. Five Year Plan Tabled until the next meeting. 10.
