HomeMy WebLinkAbout1992 06 10 Beautification of Winter Springs Board Regular Minutes ...- BEAUTIFICATION OF WINTER SPRINGS BOARD MEETING June 10, 1992 The BOWS Board was called to order by Terri Meta at 7:00 p.m. BOARD MEMBERS: Chairman Carl Stephens, absent Terri Meta, present Jean Jacobs, present Lynn Cline, present Jackie Adams, present Jesse Grantham, present Gladys Zahand, present Approval of Minutes of May 13, 1992 Adams motioned to approve the BOWS minutes of May 13, 1992. Seconded by Grantham. Vote: all aye. Motion carried. ,,-. Listed below are additions to the BOWS Master Plan Outline: (Section 1.) - CITY OWNED PROPERTY - L.10 Overall Recommendations for all Parks - Install park signs noting the following information: a. park hours b. contact person responsible for reservations and equipment use. (Section III.) - RESIDENTIAL PROPERTY - D. City Code/Code Enforcement - Provide City Code ensuring adequate standards for residential homes in the City; and provide necessary maintenance to those neglected/abandoned residences. (Section VIII.) - PROJECTS - E. B.O.W.S. Week - 1. Utilize the Tree Program as the kick-off to proclaim "Beautification of Winter Springs Week". This can be accomplished by the City purchasing seedlings from the Forrestry Department of Seminole County distributing them, without charge, to Winter Springs organizations/groups/individuals, for planting in Winter Springs. ~r 2. VIII.) - PROJECTS - School Clean-ups - Implement a "School Clean-up Day" each May, involving students cleaning the school grounds. The participating schools as well as media will receive information provided by the BOWS Board. Due to Mr. Roebling's letter regarding the neglected appearance of Lori- Anne Lane, as well as other residential streets, Adams suggested adding Code Enforcement/City Code to the outline in an effort to guarantee the standard of appearance of Winter Springs residences, and that this standard be maintained. Cline suggesting enlisting groups such as Boy Scouts, Girl Scouts, etc. for fund raising purposes, and will follow up on this.
