BEAUTIFICATION OF WINTER SPRINGS BOARD MEETING January 8, 1992 The BOWS Board was called to order by Chairman Carl Stephens. BOARD MEMBERS: Chairman Carl Stephens, present Vice-Chairman Cindy Gennell, absent Terri Meta, absent Jesse Grantham, present Jackie Adams, absent Diane Brown, present Jean Jacobs, present Pete Wiggins, Public Work Approval of Minutes of December 11, 1991 Jacobs motioned to approve minutes of December 11, 1991. Seconded by Grantham. Vote: all aye. Motion carried. Pete Wiggins, maintenance person of Public Works, was asked by BOWS Board to join the meeting. Listed below are changes made to the BOWS Master Plan Outline: (Section II.) - COMMERCIAL PROPERTY - A.2 Dumpsters: "Recommend all dumpsters be placed in an inconspicuous location or screened in on its four sides by a r' solid wall with a gate." A.8 Retention Ponds: "All ponds in the City should be maintained in both function and appearance. a. Grass area surrounding ponds should be mowed on a regular schedule. b. All debris should be removed on a regular basis. c. Barren areas should be resodded. d. Where appropriate, hardy native shrubs should be planted around the borders. e. Any protective fences should be attractive, maintained and compatible with the existing neighborhood. " (Section III.) - RESIDENTIAL PROPERTY - A. Garbage Container Policies and/or Recyclables: "All garbage that might cause a health hazard or odor must be placed in sealed plastic bags and/or lidded containers." "Empty cans and recyclable containers should be removed from curbside by noon the following day." B. Dumpsters: "Recommend all dumpsters be placed in an inconspicuous location or screened in on its four sides by a solid wall with a gate." r' C. VIII.) - PROJECTS: Garden Clubs: Jacobs reported that, although the garden club she contacted is sanctioned and was once active, they now are elderly and no longer wish to participate in "garden club" type activities. In essence, they are a "garden club" in name only. Contact person: Margaret Hannah, 695-0610. Stephens suggested having a list of garden clubs, and the City and the Beautification Board should include the various clubs in any projects whenever possible. (Brown to contact a garden club in Tuscawilla.) ,r-- BOWS Master Plan Outline ~. Page 3 E. Special Projects: 1. Grant for beautification (sprinkler system). 2. Grant for beautification of S.R. 434 bicycle path. Stephens suggested attaching, to the Master Plan, a list of the BOWS Boards' accomplishments. Jacobs to compile list of boyscoutjgirlscout troops and civic associations in the City. Brown suggested further discussion regarding additional manpower for beautification purposes.
