Approval of Minutes of October 9, 1991
Stephens motioned to approve minutes of October 9, 1991.
Motion carried.
Vote:
all aye.
Pete Wiggins, maintenance person of Public Works, was asked by the BOWS Board
to join the meeting as he is part of the City I S landscaping crew and his
knowledge could be useful to the Board.
Listed below are changes made to the BOWS Master Plan:
,""""
(Section I.A) - Public Works -
Add 9: "Storage area near Fire Station #1 needs to be hidden from public
view" .
(Section I.B) - City Hall -
(Due to the future widening of S.R. 434, some of the following
recommendations may not be feasible and modifies Exhibit A:)
BOWS members recommend that an open view of City Hall and its grounds would
be more attractive, rather than hiding City Hall with columns of trees.
This could be achieved by planting 36" clusters of azaeleas around existing
trees, (enhancing the entrance to City Hall through the use of color;
planting flowerbeds of annuals around the entrance and sign; removing the
palmetto trees, etc.
In addition, a 30" hedge along southern border of the parking area to block
oncoming headlights, was also suggested.
(Section I.G) - Water Plants - (Pump station) - Add to Outline.
(Section 1.1) - Lakes -
Add 4: "Continue and expand the weed-eating perch program when necessary."
(Section VIII.C) - Projects -
C. Garden Clubs - Stephens stated, per telephone conversation with Gennell
~ that Gennell was to visit a Garden Club on the west side, and requested
that Jacobs visit the Garden Club in Tuscawilla.

Stephens was asked, on behalf of Hacienda Village, to look into replacing a palm
tree located on the median by Hacienda Village. Wiggins mentioned that the
tree's damage was caused by an automobile. Discussion followed about planting
flowerbeds rather than another palm tree as this was the second time a tree was
injured by an automobile.
Meeting was adjourned at 9:15 p.m.
Respectfully submitted,
