BOARD MEMBERS: Chairman Carl Stephens, present Vice-Chairman Cindy Gennell, absent Terri Meta, present Jesse Grantham, present Pete Wiggins, Public Works, present Jackie Adams, present Diane Brown, present Jean Jacobs, present Approval of Minutes of October 9, 1991 Stephens motioned to approve minutes of October 9, 1991. Motion carried. Vote: all aye. Pete Wiggins, maintenance person of Public Works, was asked by the BOWS Board to join the meeting as he is part of the City I S landscaping crew and his knowledge could be useful to the Board. Listed below are changes made to the BOWS Master Plan: ,"""" (Section I.A) - Public Works - Add 9: "Storage area near Fire Station #1 needs to be hidden from public view" . (Section I.B) - City Hall - (Due to the future widening of S.R. 434, some of the following recommendations may not be feasible and modifies Exhibit A:) BOWS members recommend that an open view of City Hall and its grounds would be more attractive, rather than hiding City Hall with columns of trees. This could be achieved by planting 36" clusters of azaeleas around existing trees, (enhancing the entrance to City Hall through the use of color; planting flowerbeds of annuals around the entrance and sign; removing the palmetto trees, etc. In addition, a 30" hedge along southern border of the parking area to block oncoming headlights, was also suggested. (Section I.G) - Water Plants - (Pump station) - Add to Outline. (Section 1.1) - Lakes - Add 4: "Continue and expand the weed-eating perch program when necessary." (Section VIII.C) - Projects - C. Garden Clubs - Stephens stated, per telephone conversation with Gennell ~ that Gennell was to visit a Garden Club on the west side, and requested that Jacobs visit the Garden Club in Tuscawilla. r BOWS Board Minutes Date Page 2 --.... Stephens was asked, on behalf of Hacienda Village, to look into replacing a palm tree located on the median by Hacienda Village. Wiggins mentioned that the tree's damage was caused by an automobile. Discussion followed about planting flowerbeds rather than another palm tree as this was the second time a tree was injured by an automobile.
