BOARD OF ADJUSTMENT MINUTES
Thursday, February 7, 1985
7:00 P.M.
The regular meeting of the Board of Adj ustment was called to order hy Chaixman Holz.,
The Pledge of Allegiance to the Flag was led by Chairman Holz.
ROLL CALL:
Ted Holz, Chairman - present
Harry Reid, Vice Chairman - present
Louise Poole - present
Richard Kessler - present
Gil Artman - present

APPROVAL OF MINUTES OF JANUARY 3, 1985
Poole moved to approve the minutes' amending Poole being present. Kessler second.
Vote: All aye
DURWOOD RORIE REQUEST FOR VARIANCE
City Planner presentation. Discussion. DurwoodRorie, the applicant came forward and
spoke in favor of the variance, and answered questions by the Board. Pete Mallory,
the contractor and James Cotton, a neighbor of Mr. Rorie also came forward and spoke
in favor of the variance. After a lengthy discussion, it was suggested that the other
items on the agenda be completed and at that time the Board would adjourn to the
address of Mr. Rorie to view the situation.
BRIAN RIST REQUEST FOR VARIANCE
City Planner presentation. Discussion. Brian Rist came forward and answered questions
from the Board. Artman moved to approve the variance as requested., Kessler second.
Vote: All aye. Request for the variance was approved.
GENERAL CONFERENCE EVANGELICAL CONGREGATIONAL CHURCH FOR CONDITIONAL USE
City Planner presentation. Discussion. Larry Dunn, a broker with the Walters Group,
came forward for discussion and questions from the Board.The following residents
came forward to speak for the conditional land use: Beverly Burns (ministers wife)
413 S. Alderwood; Ann Ellis, 205 James Court; and Dennis Green, 882 Elgin; who are
members of the church. The following residents came forward to speak against the
conditional land use: Barbara Runk, 300 Wade Street and Wayne Devol, 306 Wade Street
After further discussion, Mr. Artman moved to deny the request as stated as it does
not fall within the realms of section 44.58 as stated, Mr. Reid seconded. Vote:
Artman, aye; Reid, aye; Holz, aye; Kessler, nay; Poole, nay. Conditional use of the
land was denied.
The meeting was recessed to go to 261 N. Edgemon to view the applicant's carport.
The meeting was reconvened at 8:45 P.M.

Artman moved to approve the variance as requested. Motion dies for lack of second..
Kessler moved to deny applicant's request for variance, Holz second. Vote: Artman,
nay; Reid, aye; Holz, aye; Kessler, aye; Poole, nay.. The request for variance is
denied.
The meeting was adjourned at 9:00 P.M.
