Board of Adjustment Amended Hinutes
Thursday, June 7, 1984

The regular meeting of the Board of Adjustment was called to order by Chairman Holz.
ROLL CALL:
Ted Holz, Chairman, present
Harry Reid, Vice-Chairman, present
Louise Poole, present
Gil Artman, present
Richard Kessler, present
CITY OFFICIALS:
Walter Elwell, City Planner
The Pledge of Allegiance to the Flag led by Chairman Holz.
APPROVAL OF MINUTES OF MAY 17, 1984
Poole moved to approve minutes as submitted. Reid second. Vote: All aye.
Minutes approved as submitted.
SPECIAL EXCEPTION IN RC-l ZONE, W. 1/2 OF LOT 2, BLK. B., N. ORLANDO RMiCHES SEC. 1, TO
PERMIT Hor1E OCCUPATION (H.R.S. LICENSED CARE FOR FIVE TO SIX CHILDREN AS SINGLE
HOUSEHOLD), EMILY POWELL
Elwell presentation. Emily Powell, 1 Gumtree Ct., the applicant, came forward and was
sworn in to make her presentation. Robie Holland, H.R.S. representative came forward
and was sworn in to speak for the applicant.
The people listed below came forward and was sworn in to speak in opposition of the request.
Herb Watson, 241 E. Panama Rd.; Gary Bass, 270 Bahama Rd.; June Beary, 280 Bahama Rd.;
Richard Buchanio, 258 Panama Rd.; Richard Beary, Casselberry, (parents reside at 280 Bahama
Rd.) .
J. R. Hattaway, Coral Way and property owner on Bahama Rd. came forward and was sworn in to
speak in favor of the request.
Herb Watson again came forward to speak opposition to the request.
Emily Powell, applicant again came forward and answered questions. Discussion.
J. R. Hattaway; Coral Way again came forward and spoke in favor of the request. Discussion.
Robie Holland, H.R.S. representative, again came forward to answer questions frrom the Board
and residents. Discussion.
Reid stated that it should be treated as two fold. Reid stated that it should be treated
as a home occupation so it doesn't crop up in the future and we also ought to treat it
as an exception to the household, single family household. Reid repeated what he said
before, basically that it is really a change in zoning and it is not conducive to the
area to what is there in regular zoning for single family.
Reid moved to deny the applicant's request. Kessler second. Vote: Reid, aye; Holz, aye;
Poole, nay; Kessler, aye; Artman, nay.
Mot ion carries.
Meeting adjourned at 8:45 PM.
