Following silent prayer, Chute led in the pledge of allegiance. Ellen Weiss Al Davis Charles Chute Tom Binford Richard Kessler City Officials: Jacqueline Koch, City Planner ROLL CALL Kessler moved to accept the minutes of February 19, 1981 as presented. Seconded by Weiss. Vote: All aye. Motion carried. REQUEST OF GRACE AND GEORGE SANBORN FDR SPECIAL EXCEPTION TO CONSTRUcr AN ADDITION AS NEAR AS 20 FEEr TO THE FRONr PROPERrY LINE mN ZONE R-l AT 107 ELIJERWOOD ST. (LOr 5, BLOCK F, FDXMX>R UNIT 1). The City Planner stated the applicants are requesting pernrission to add a screen porch on the front of the home which will extend 5 feet into the front setback. The lot is on the south side of Elderwood. There are 5 lots across the street which are model homes belonging to Maranda - there is no one living there. There is also one lot within 150 feet on the same side of the street still owned by Maronda Homes. Four neighbors and residents on the south side were notified. There were no negative corrments received. The City Planner recorrmended the request be approved. The applicants were present to speak for their request. Kessler questioned the construction of the addition. Mr. Sanborn stated they would be using no aluminum - only wood and screen. The structure will continue with the same roof- line and the same slope. Davis questioned the obstruction of traffic. The City Planner reported there would be no problem with the traffic. There was no one in the audience to speak for or against the applicant. Kessler moved to accept the request as presented as long as the structure is consistent with the graphic (U'"S wood and screen enclosure with no aluminum). Seconded by Chute. Vote: All aye. Motion carried. D3.vis brought up the idea of all surrounding property owners within 300 feet being notified by letter for all applications involving notification for public hearings. Discussion followed. The Board. agreed with this idea and requested the Chairnlan draft a letter to the effect that all applications should require the City to notify the imnediate property ownerS:- Copies of the letter will be submitted to each board. member for additions or corrments prior to submitting the letter to Council. Kessler questioned the enforcement of dual wheel vehicles over 3/4 ton betng parked in neighborhoods. The City Planner stated both she and the Building Official had mentioned this to the City lVIanager this week and that one indi- vidual had been recently ticketed. She reported the City Manager had prev:iously instructed the Police Chief to enforce that law and your decisions. Davis reiterated that it is a waste of time if the laws on the books are not enforced. Weiss stated that it is useless for them to hear requests and vote on them if their decisions are not upheld. :,;c~~, . Board of Adjustrrent Me~ing M3.rch 19, 1981 Page Two. The Board requested the Chairman write a letter to the City Manager with copies sent to the Police Chief as well as the Council requesting that the law regarding parking of commercial vehicles in neighborhoods as well as the Board's decisions on various applications be enforced.
