A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY OF WINTER SPRINGS, FLORIDA, ADOPTING
TAE NATIONAL INCIDENT MANAGEMENT SYSTEM
WHEREAS, Homeland Security Presidential Directive/HSPD-S, 2S Feb 2003 established the
National Incident Management System (~1IlVIS}; and
WHEREAS, the NIlI~S establishes a single, comprehensive a roach to domestic incident

management to ensure that all levels of government across the Nation have the ca abili to work

efficiently and effectively together using a national a roach to domestic incident mana em •
pp g ent, and
WHEREAS, the NIlVIS provides a consistent nationwide ap roach for Federal State and
p ~ ,
local governments to work together to prepare for, res and to and recover from domestic in
p c~dents
regardless of the cause, size or complexity; and
WHEREAS, the NIlVIS provides for interaperability and compatibili anion Federal State

and local capabilities and includes a core set of concepts, rinci les, terminolo and technolo
p p gy gies
covering the incident command system, unified command, trainin , mono ement or resources and

reporting; and
WHEREAS, beginning pctober 1, 2006 all Federal departments and a encies shall make

adoption of the NIlVIS a requirement, to the extent provided b law for rovidin Federal

preparedness assistance through grants, contracts or other activities to local overnments•

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the pity of Winter S rin s, Florida hereb

adopts the National Incident Management System (~1IlViS} as the ci 's s stem of r grin for and

responding to emergencies and disaster incidents.
