The event was promoted and the flyers distributed in the following
manner:
1. Through City Commission Agenda Item of October 14, 1996,
Informational, "A".
2. Over 250 flyers were hand carried to individual homes throughout
the Tuscawilla community by Sarah and Carolyn Werlink. They
also made announcements at their schools and distributed flyers.
3. Mr. Gordon Naruta distributed the flyers to area businesses so they
could post them in their windows.

5. The Winter Springs Voice printed an event announcement on two
occaSIOns.
6. "TuscawiIla Today" contained an announcement of the event.
. Prior to the event the Parks and Recreation Department received assistance
from Public Works on Friday, November 1,1996 when Leonard Hadden,
Heavy Equipment Operator and Bruce Schneider, Maintenance Worker
worked on site and mowed the lake slopes and southeastern area of the
park. These areas are those which remain in a natural state and are usually
only mowed periodically throughout the year.
THE EVENT:
. The event was held November 2, 1996 as planned and we had a gorgeous
Florida day weatherwise. It was mostly overcast and the temperatme
hovered around 70 degrees.
. Fifteen residents participated in the event and to the best of our
recollection were as follows:

Without the assistance of Pete Wiggins and Gordon Peyton of Public

been as successful. These two men and the equipment really provided a lot
of fire power for the event.
BOTTOM LINE RESULTS:
· 6 TONS OF DEBRIS WAS PHYSICALLY REMOVED FROM THE
LAKE, LAKE BANKS AND THE CANAL BETWEEN THE HOURS
OF 9:00AM AND 12:00 NOON. 98% of the debris was hauled to the
dump on event day.
· At the 70% completion point of the canal cleaning the direction of the
water flow in the canal actually changed from "inflow" to "outflow".
