UPDA TE: Community Development Division updating the City Commission on the
preparation of Design Guidelines for the Redevelopment Area of the
State Road 434 Corridor Visioning Project.
PURPOSE: The purpose of this Board Item is to give a progress report on the preparation of
the Design Guidelines for the Redevelopment Area of the State Road 434 Corridor
Visioning Project.
CONSIDERATIONS:

On July 15, 1996, the Commission held a workshop on the State Road 434
Corridor Visioning Project and agreed that there should be separate Design
Guidelines for the Redevelopment Area and the Town Center. The Town
Center Guidelines would be expedited and completed before the
Redevelopment Area Guidelines.

The Planning & Zoning BoardlLocal Planning Agency has completed its
review of the S.R. 434 Corridor Design Guidelines for the "New
Development Area". The "Town Center" Guidelines are scheduled to be
reviewed by the P & ZILP A on October 2, 1996.

The City Commission, on July 8, 1996, approved the hiring of Berryman &
Henigar to prepare a Concept Plan for S.R. 434 improvements from near
U.S. 17/92 to S.R. 419 (Redevelopment Area) in the amount of$ 3,500 to
be paid from the City's Transportation Improvement Fund (#1040-53180).

The adopted S.R. 434 Visioning Concept Plan provides for revitalization of
the 434 Corridor from S.R. 419 to the City Limits near U. S. 17/92. The

proposed FDOT project become a major component of this plan., To get
this project into FDOT"s 5- Year Work Program, the City is submitting a
Concept Plan for the improvements to the Orlando Urban Area
Metropolitan Planning Organization for its recommendation to the Florida
Department of Transportation 5- Year Work Program.
