REQUEST: General Services Department (Land Management Division) requesting
Commission approval of the Second Reading and adoption of Ordinance No. 618
to vacate a portion of the Flamingo Avenue right of way, a planting easement and
utility easements on City owned property.
PURPOSE: The purpose of this Board item is to cure existing easement violations and to
vacate existing easements and right of way located on City owned property which
will allow more flexibility in the future use of the property. This property is
located between North Moss Road and North Fairfax Avenue and is part of Public
Works/Utility Department and Fire Station No. 24 Complexes.
FINDINGS:
I) Research of records does not show that the utility and the planting easement
located within Block 15 have ever been vacated. If this is indeed correct, it
appears that Fire Station No. 24 is built on these easements. The vacation of
these easements would make Fire Station No. 24 legal.
2) All concerned utility companies have reviewed the utility easements proposed
to be vacated and have offered no objection to this action.
3) First Reading of Ordinance No. 618 was held at the Commission Meeting of
April 22, 1996.
