HomeMy WebLinkAboutResolution 2003-19 Naming Blumberg Blvd. RESOLUTION 2003-19 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COMMISISON OF THE CITY OF WINTER SPRINGS RENAMING HICKORY GROVE ROAD IN THE WINTER SPRINGS TOWN CENTER TO BLUMBERG BOULEVARD. WHEREAS, the Winter Springs Town Center was planned and designed to be the economic, governmental, environmental, residential and cultural focal point of the City of Winter Springs, and WHEREAS, the home site of Lewis and Juanita Blumberg is strategically located in the Winter Springs Town Center, and WHEREAS, the Blumberg Family has made some six and one-half acres of property from their home site available for Town Center Development including right of ways for the Boulevard, Cross Seminole Trail, utility easements and conservation of the three hundred year old Hickory Hammock located on their property. WHEREAS, Lewis Blumberg distinguished himself in the service of his Country as a pilot in World War II serving in General George Patton's Third Army, Sixth Armored Division, 21 ih Field Artillery, and being awarded the Distinguished Flying Cross and Silver Star with Four Oak Leaf Clusters for exceptional bravery under fire. NOW, THEREFORE, be it resolved that the City Commission of the City of Winter Springs hereby renames Hickory Grove Road in the Winter Springs Town Center to Blumberg Boulevard in honor of, and appreciation of Lewis and Juanita Blumberg and their contribution to their Country and their Community.
