HomeMy WebLinkAboutResolution 2007-13 Property Tax Legislation RESOLUTION NUMBER 2007-13 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY OF WINTER SPRINGS, FLORIDA, FINDING THAT A PUBLIC PURPOSE EXISTS FOR JUSTIFYING THE EXPENDITURE OF PUBLIC FUNDS TO INFORM MEMBERS OF THE LEGISLATURE AND THE RESIDENTS OF WINTER SPRINGS OF THE DETRIMENTAL EFFECTS OF PROPOSED PROPERTY TAX LEGISLATION ON THE DELIVERY OF ESSENTIAL PUBLIC SERVICES. WHEREAS, the Legislature is considering several proposals for changing the State's property tax system, and WHEREAS, the proposals, as written, would have substantial detrimental impacts on the City's financial capacity to deliver essential services such as police, fire, code enforcement, street lighting, street and traffic signal maintenance, services to seniors and others, and WHEREAS, these proposals would result in the reduction of services and or the imposition of new and increased user charges which would place a disproportional burden on senior citizens and the less fortunate. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Commission of the City of Winter Springs, Florida finds that a public purpose exists to expend public funds to inform and educate members of the Legislature and the residents of the City of Winter Springs of the impacts of Legislative proposals and the ability of the City to deliver essential municipal services to the public.
