RESOLUTION NO. 856
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY OF WINTER SPRINGS, FLORIDA, WAIVING
THE PERMITTING REQUIREMENT FOR POLITICAL CANDIDATE SIGNS FOR
THE NOVEMBER 3, 1998 ELECTION; CONFLICTS AND EFFECTIVE DATE.
WHEREAS, an election will be held November 3, 1998; and
WHEREAS, the City Commission deems it to be in the best interest of the City and the
general public to waive the permitting requirement for all officially qualified candidates
in the November 3, 1998 election.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE
CITY OF WINTER SPRINGS, FLORIDA, AS FOLLOWS:
SECTION I: The City Commission of the City of Winter Springs, Florida, hereby
waives the permitting requirement for political signs complying with the following
" Political Sign Guidlines":
Size:
1. Residential districts - On developed lots the sign shall not exceed
six (6) square feet per side.
2. Residential districts - On undeveloped lots (raw land) the sign shall
not exceed sixteen (16) square feet per side.
3. CommerciallIndustrial districts - The sign shall not exceed thirty-
two (32) square feet per side.
Location:
1. All signs shall be located on private property.
2. No sign shall be placed on street or road rights of way, utility poles,
trees, etc.
General Requirements:
1. The candidate must have qualified before any signs may be placed.
2. Signs may remain erected until forty-eight (48) hours after the last
election in which the candidate is entered.
3. The candidate is responsible for the removal of all signs within the
time limitation. Failure to do so may result in code enforcement
action.
Signs in violation of the above or any other City of Winter Springs code regulating the
placement of signs will be removed and the candidate will be subject to penalties as
outlined in Sections 2-69 through 2-69.8 of the City of Winter Springs Code of
Ordinances.
Section II: This resolution shall remain in force and effect until November 6, 1998.
Section III: All resolutions or parts of Resolutions in conflict with this Resolution are
hereby repealed.
Section IV: This Resolution shall take effect immediately upon its passage and
adoption.
