RESOLUTION NO. 636
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY OF WINTER SPRINGS,
FLORIDA, REQUESTING THAT THE FLORIDA DEPART-
MENT OF TRANSPORTATION TO RESCHEDULE THE
CONSTRUCTION OF THE REALIGNMENT OF "WAGNER'S
CURVE" FROM FISCAL YEAR 1992 TO FISCAL YEAR
1990; AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO TAKE
SUCH ACTIONS THAT HE DEEMS APPROPRIATE TO
HAVE THE REALIGNMENT OF WAGNER'S CURVE"
CONSTRUCTED IN AN EXPEDITIOUS MANNER;
CONFLICTS AND EFFECTIVE DATE.
WHEREAS, the City Commission of the City of Winter Springs,
Florida, has determined that that portion of State Road 434 known as "Wagner's
Curve" is a detriment to the public safety of those persons utilizing this
roadway as evidenced by the numerous accidents and fatality already
experienced; and
WHEREAS, the United States Postal Service is in the process
of constructing a major post office, scheduled to open in August 1990,
immediately to the south of "Wagner's Curve" which has direct impact on the
ingress/egress of postal patrons; and
WHEREAS, this post office was designed taking into considera-
tion the proposed realignment of "Wagner's Curve"; and
WHEREAS, the estimated daily vehicle count on State Road 434
is 16,OOO with the projected daily vehicle count in the year 1993 being 26,000
and
WHEREAS, the Florida Department of Transportation has
concurred in this finding by allocating funds and proposing a realignment of
said "Wagner's Curve" during the widening and resurfacing of State Road 434
scheduled for construction in Fiscal Year 1992.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION
OF THE CITY OF WINTER SPRINGS, FLORIDA:
SECTION I: That the City Commission of Winter Springs,
Florida, requests the Florida Department of Transportation reschedule the
construction of that portion of the widening and resurfacing of State Road
434 encompassing the realignment of "Wagner's Curve" from Fiscal Year 1992 to
Fiscal Year 1990.
SECTION II: That the City Manager is authorized to take such
actions that he deems appropriate to have the realignment of "Wagner's Curve"
constructed in an expeditious manner.
SECTION III: That this Resolution shall remain in full force
and effect until supplemented, amended, repealed or otherwise altered.
SECTION IV: All Resolutions or parts of Resolutions in
conflict with this Resolution are hereby repealed.
SECTION V: This Resolution shall take immediate effect upon
its passage and approval.
